The clutch fork plays an important part in a properly operating clutch system. If it is bent or exhibits excessive wear at the pivot points, full release bearing travel will be affected, and clutch release problems can occur.

In hydraulic systems, a bent fork can cause the slave cylinder to over-extend, resulting in high system pressure and leading to leaking hoses and a cracked master or slave cylinder. Because they cannot be replaced once the transmission is in place, clutch forks should be carefully examined and replaced if any wear, bending, or cracking is observed.
